Vapah

"No DJ let No DJ look at they beats"

Jungle / Trip Hop / Drum & Bass

Vapah is a name I was given. There are many reasons for why I have it. Known for my disappearing acts being the main one.
The name has carried on into music now. Always interested in music since a young age, I was never supplied with the outlet for my ideas. Listening to music and wanting to somehow change or combine different sounds.

Going thru many phases of musical preference, but always looking for something new. The biggest influences being in 90's hip hop, and rock for many years. I became sick of the same stuff year after year. Introduced to various genres of EDM in the late 90's. I tore thru every song I could find, still looking for something but not knowing what.

A friend introduced me to DNB and DJing around 97'. Realizing this was a way for me to change music, I took interest. That's when it was realized I didn't know anything about the structure of music. DJing was going to be the way to learn music. So I got a cheap setup and started buying DNB records. Never really caring about being a show off, just wanting to learn how to make music. Counting beats, learning the songs and eqing the mixes was my focus. After 6 or 7 years of DJing it was time to make music.

I bought a keyboard with a six track sequencer and started learning to program. After 6 months and about 20 songs, it was time for something else. I bought a good computer in 07' and got Reason 3.0. Finally I had everything I needed to be creative. In my first year I finished almost 40 songs and completed my first album No Way Out.

Having done mostly DNB, I am now looking to use what I've learned from it in other styles of music.
